It's not always sunny in Spain!
Buenas Dias! Or… Buendi as the locals say. In fact, they might say ‘esta lloviendo’ because today it’s not sunny it's cold and it’s raining HARD.
The weather doesn’t do things by halves here it seems. It’s either hot sun and blue sky or angry clouds and torrential rain. But far from everyone being a bit miserable in fact everyone is happy, the rains are almost a month late and it is the first rain for about 5 months. All the farmers can now light their bonfires and the air has a lovely autumnal smell about it.
It was an early start for us again as we went for attempt number two at getting our NIE number (see previous post) the office was open but after a brief broken Spanish conversation we were given a different form and told to come back in two weeks… now we are getting a taste of Spanish bureaucracy! Anyway, as we were whizzing up the autoroute to Granada in the driving rain we saw FRESH SNOW on the Sierra Nevada. Yes, two days ago we were sunbathing and now we are wrapped up in winter clothes. Here is an image from the Sierra Nevada webcam and you can check out the daily snow depths here http://sierranevada.es/es/webcams/
You see? It's not all sunshine and fiestas here! Right, I'm off to find some knitwear...
