It’s August, and seemingly every village, town and city is having a fería or festival of some sort...
We can't quite believe that we have been here, living in Spain, for over 9 months, and the time has flown by. We have been increasingly busy and not had so much time to write this blog but I felt it worth pausing for a moment just to talk a little bit more about the village we currently call our home: Saleres
Sunday was Andrew’s Birthday, and it is probably fair to say that we both felt a little bit jaded on that morning. We didn’t drink that much, but the effects are amplified in the heat unless alcohol is accompanied by litres of water!
An important ingredient is missing from this account. This weekend in Madrid also happened to coincide with Andrew's 42nd Birthday (I know; he's very old)...
Neither Andrew nor I had ever been to Madrid before, and this city was most definitely on our ‘wish list’ for this year in Spain. It just so happened that 2017 saw Madrid hosting World Pride so it seemed sensible to combine the two!
Our neighbours, Visi and Clemente left today. They have gone to Barcelona to be with their son and are not due to return until September at the earliest. Andrew and I both feel a sense of loss...
One of the festivals that we really wanted to witness was the Feria. Granada has its own very special festival that ties in with one of the main religious festivals in Spain, Corpus Christi. And we had heard it was quite an event...
Lunch in Tabernas was not successful. For some reason, the tapas we had (Chorizo) tasted of fish, so we didn’t linger...
For our next road trip adventure we decided to visit the Almeria province and explore the coast of the Cabo de Gata. Once again we will break this up into several readable sections!
